The following entry arrangements will apply to graduates of QQI courses seeking admission to courses at the university. The minimum entry requirement for graduates of QQI awards to:
- Higher Certificate courses is a full QQI award;
- Ab-initio Ordinary Degree courses is a full QQI award;
- Ab-initio Honours Degree courses is a full QQI award in a course in a cognate area and including a distinction grade in at least three modules.
Notwithstanding the minimum entry requirements listed above, specific higher certificate and ab-initio ordinary degree courses may have specific prerequisite QQI module or QQI course requirements. Such prerequisite requirements are specified (see Specific Course Requirements). In the case of entry to Honours degree courses, relevant cognate courses and specific prerequisite module requirements, where relevant, are specified (see Specific Course Requirements).
For all courses, except for nursing, an overall point score is calculated based on the best 8 modules presented. For modules with a credit value of 1, scores are awarded as follows:
Pass: 1 Merit: 2 Distinction: 3
Nursing
The scoring scheme which applies for nursing is available at www.cao.ie. MTU Kerry Campus reserves four places on the BSc in Nursing (General) and two places on the BSc in Nursing (Psychiatric) for applicants who meet the minimum entry requirements as follows:
Must possess distinctions in 5 modules in the QQI-FET level 5 qualifications which must include: (Community & Health) D20001/5N0749 Anatomy & Physiology AND (Health Care Support) D20012/5N4325 Nursing Theory and Practice AND (Health Service Skills) D20032/5N1279 Human Growth & Development OR C20006/5N2746 Biology
Pre-current year QQI applicants should attach their statement of results to their CAO form.
