On Friday 4th November 2016, the Institute of Technology, Tralee in association with Cuan Mhuire, will host an important conference on the theme of addiction. International Perspectives on Addiction: Issues and Interventions will see guest speakers from Ireland, Europe and the USA. The conference is being held as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for Cuan Mhuire which was founded in 1966 by Sr. Consilio Fitzgerald.
The conference will be held in the Sólás Building in the North Campus. Speakers include Sr. Consilio, Alexis Goosdeel European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, Professor Joe Barry Trinity College Dublin and Professor Pat Devitt and Melissa Ockerman from De Paul University, Chicago who will talk on Families, Children in Addiction, Distress and Crisis. CPD recognition is being sought from the ICGP and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
On Thursday November 3rd there will be a Gala Dinner at the Meadowlands Hotel at 6pm to celebrate the 50th anniversary. It will also be an opportunity to meet guest speakers before the conference.
The Conference fee is €50 if registered before October 21st, €35 for students/unwaged/OAP. The Gala Dinner is €35.
